Yesterday I was a guest on Indie on Air! with Jeff “Classic” discussing my new book Rock & Roll Ghost Stories and the paranormal as a whole. Click here to have a listen.

“Fresh off their wild and raucous 2008 release, One Shoe Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Portland, Oregon’s The Ascetic Junkies are back with a new LP, This Cage Has No Bottom. Maintaining an endearing blend of pop-infused bluegrass, the new record is a raw and rowdy hootenanny, showcasing the core of the Junkies magic: Matt Harmon and Kali Giaritta’s guy-girl harmonies, layered over whimsical melodies.”
I highly recommend checking out the tracks ‘Don’t Panic’, ‘Jenny, Don’t Do That’, ‘Water From Wine’ and ‘God Devil Gov’t.’
The GOASTT (Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger) is two people, Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl. ‘Acoustic Sessions’ is their debut album. Available now!
About the release: “The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger weaves narratives around a metaphysical geography of their own devising, finding a surrealist beauty in the mundane. Their songs are like Dali’s imaginary landscapes: lavender roads, oil slicks radiating rainbows, ballerinas tipping off tightropes, sweating snowmen, black and white films beamed from the future, Schroedinger’s cat meets Pavlov’s dog… Curiouser and curiouser, The GOASTT’s world is a beguiling Wonderland and one stunning debut.” – chimeramusic.com

Friends and peers say a tearful “goobye” to Sub Pop Records‘ Andy Kotowicz, “Vice President of Sales and Director of Marketing, as well as A&R dude and father of one.” Andy lost his life this weekend due to injuries sustained Thursday afternoon from an auto accident – where he was simply waiting at a traffic light. Learn more about Andy HERE.
Buddy Guy‘s new album ‘Living Proof‘ hits stores Oct. 26th. Preview the album HERE, top of page.
1) You’ve heard the term ‘Beaded Brow’, right? Well, I’ve got a new one… ‘Bearded Brow’. A ‘Bearded Brow‘ is when the length of your eyebrow hairs can be confused with an overgrown beard, well, if it weren’t for the difference in placement.
2) Despite being in poor taste, I think it needs to be pointed out that the lyrics in ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald‘, by the amazing Gordon Lightfoot, are NOT “Of the big lake they call Get-Your-Gurney” but rather “Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee.”
I will try to get back into the music blogging more regularly from now on. Been very busy promoting my new book. Best, Stacy
P.S. Music press releases/kits can be sent to babbleandbeat@gmail.com. I will be more likely to blog about music when the kit includes cd cover or band art, bios, and music samples. The more info, the better. Thanks!
